Online: INLNA Convention. 6 pm Iceland / 2 pm Atlantic / 1 pm Eastern / 12 pm Central / 11 am Mountain / 10 am Pacific. Join us for webinar on “The Very Latest on the Icelandic Volcanic Eruption and Its Impact.” Register at the INLNA website – inlofna.org.
Þorvaldur Þórðarson, professor in volcanology and petrology at the University of Iceland, who is a self-described expert on “hot spot volcanism” will be coming online in person speaking about the up-to-the-minute developments on the Reykjanes peninsula.
Þorvaldur will be in conversation with Snorri alum Erik Schoonover, a PhD candidate in geosciences at Penn State University whose expertise is on the fundamentals of volcanos, and who has an interest in all things related to Icelandic geology.
The INLNA is pleased to have Iceland’s Ambassador to Canada Hlynur Guðjónsson address our online meeting and join the panel, offering us insight into the impact of volcanic activity on Icelandic industry and businesses, and how we may support our Icelandic cousins during this challenging time.
Many of our member clubs plan to gather locally to have fun and make this a hybrid social gathering of INLNA members. Kaffi and kleinur in the west, brunch in the east, cocktails in Iceland – taking the INLNA AGM as an opportunity to connect in-person with local club members and at the same time online with members from across North America and Iceland. This way, we can truly embody and keep alive the INLNA motto: Strong is the Bond/Römm er sú taug.
Burnaby, BC: Join us at the Scandinavian Community Centre, 6540 Thomas St. Online convention and ICC of BC Samkoma. 10 am -1 pm. Light lunch is provided. Please RSVP (for numbers) at
