“Sir William Stephenson – The Man Called Intrepid” will be the theme of a talk by Dwight MacAulay, past president of the Intrepid Society, at the Scandinavian Centre’s TGIF dinner in Winnipeg at 6:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 and Dwight MacAuley will speak at 7:00. Sir William Stephenson grew up in Winnipeg and went on to acquire great wealth. However, his greater influence stems from his noble efforts during World War II. Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond series, famously stated that James Bond is a “highly romanticized version of a true spy” and that the real thing was William Stephenson. The price is $30 and reservations must be made by April 23.
