Until 23 June

Gimli, MB: The New Iceland Heritage Museum is hosting a new travelling exhibit, 1867 – Rebellion and Confederation. This is a very fitting exhibit to help celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, talking about the how it all began. Developed by the Canadian Museum of History. This exhibition explores the route to nationhood taken by a society in transition, and by the people who fought, negotiated and made compromises to forge a more peaceable union. By tracing the pivotal moments leading to the draft of the British North America Act, this exhibition helps visitors to better understand how this legacy continues to affect our identity, our values and our institutions. 94-1st Ave. 204-642-4001. Winter hours: 10- 4 Mon. to Fri., 1- 4 Sat. and Sun.

Wednesday 19 April

New York, NY: Scandinavia House: The Nordic Center in America. In Front of Others /Fyrir framan annað fólk. 93 min. In Icelandic with English subtitles. 7 pm. Directed by Óskar Jónasson (Iceland, 2016). Hubert, a shy and introverted graphic designer, is a complete failure when it comes to meeting women. When he falls in love with Hanna, who is recovering from a difficult breakup, he tries to impress her by mimicking his best friend, the perfect womanizer. It breaks the ice with Hanna, but the impersonations get out of hand, with unforeseen consequences. Scandinavia House is at 58 Park Ave. New York, 10016. 212-779-3587.
